Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy

Abstract
Nausea and vomiting occur in many pregnant woman and are considered normal. Typically they commence between the first and second missed menstrual period and continue until about time of the fourth missed period, but etiology is not known.
These symptoms may be so severe, however, as to become serious. It is generally agreed that hyperemesis gravidarum is exaggerated or pernicious from of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. Hyperemesis gravidarum is now rare because ambulatory care of "normal" nausea and vomiting of-pregnancy with use of antiemetic traquilizer agent is so effective.
The etiologic factors, symptoms and treatment have been discussed with brief review of literature.
